Feminism is a discourse that involves various movements, theories, and philosophies which are concerned with the issue of gender difference, advocate equality for women, and campaign for womens rights and interests. According to some, the history of feminism can be divided into three waves. The first wave was in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the second was in the 1960s and 1970s and the third extends from the 1990s to the present. Feminist theory emerged from these feminist movements.It is manifest in a variety of disciplines such as feminist geography, feminist history and feminist literary criticism.
Feminism has altered predominant perspectives in a wide range of areas within Western society, ranging from culture to law. Feminist activists have campaigned for womens legal rights (rights of contract, property rights, voting rights); for womens right to bodily integrity and auto)●(nomy, for abortion rights, and for reproductive rights (including access to contraception and quality prenatal care); for protection from domestic violence, sexual harassment and rape;for workplace rights, including maternity leave and equal pay; and against other forms of discrimination.
During much of its history, most feminist movements and theories had leaders who were predominantly middle-class white women from Western Europe and North America. However, at least since Sojourner Truths 1851 speech to American feminists, women of other races have proposed alternative feminisms. This trend accelerated in the 1960s with the Civil Rights movement in the United States and the collapse of European colonialism in Africa, the Caribbean, parts of Latin America and Southeast Asia. Since that time, women in former European colonies and the Third World have proposed "Post-colonial" and "Third World" feminisms. Some Postcolonial feminists, such as Chandra Talpade Mohanty, are critical of Western feminism for being ethnocentric. Black feminists, such as Angela Davis and Alice Walker, share this view.
Since the 1980s Standpoint feminists argued that feminism should examine how womens experience of inequality relates to that of racism, homophobia, classism and colonization.In the late 1980s and 1990s postmodern feminists argued that gender roles are socially constructed,and that it is impossible to generalize womens experiences across cultures and histories.

一般来说,认识自己是件难事。难就难在这里不仅有科学与迷信、真理与谬误、良知与偏见 的斗争,而且有不同价值取向的冲突。"人是什么"的问题势必与"人应该是什么"、"人 能够是什么"的问题紧相纠缠。同样,"女人是什么"的问题总是与"女人应该是什么"、 "女人能够是什么"的问题难分难解。正是问题的这一价值内涵使得任何自我认识同时也成 了一个永无止境的自我评价、自我设计、自我创造的过程。
在人类之外毕竟不存在一个把人当作认识对象的非人族类,所谓神意也只是人类自我认识的 折射。女性的情形就不同了,有一个相异的性类对她进行着认识和评价,因此她的自我认识 难以摆脱男性观点的纠缠和影响。人们常常争论:究竟男人更理解女人,还是女人自己更理 解女人?也许我们可以说女人"当局者迷",但是男人并不据有"旁观者清"的优势,因为 他在认识女人时恰恰不是旁观者,而也是一个当局者,不可能不受欲念和情感的左右。两性之间事实上不断发生误解,但这种误解又是同各性对自身的误解互为前提的。另一方面,我 们即使彻底排除了男权主义的偏见,却终归不可能把男性观点对女性的影响也彻底排除掉。 无论到什么时候,女人离开男人就不成其为女人,就像男人离开女人就不成其为男人一样。 男人和女人是互相造就的,肉体上如此,精神上也如此。两性存在虽然同属人的存在,但各 自性别意识的形成却始终有赖于对立性别的存在及其对己的作用。这种情形既加重了、也减 轻了女性自我认识的困难。在各个时代的男性中,始终有一些人超越了社会的政治经济偏见 而成为女性的知音,他们的意见是值得女性学家重视的。
对于女人,有两种常见的偏见。男权主义者在"女人"身上只见"女",不见"人",把女 人只看作性的载体,而不看作独立的人格。某些偏激的女权主义者在"女人"身上只见"人 ",不见"女",只强调女人作为人的存在,抹杀其性别存在和性别价值。后者实际上是男 权主义的变种,是男权统治下女性自卑的极端形式。真实的女人当然既是"人",又是"女 ",是人的存在与性别存在的统一。正像一个健全的男子在女人身上寻求的既是同类,又是 异性一样,在一个健全的女人看来,倘若男人只把她看作无性别的抽象的人,所受侮辱的程 度决不亚于只把她看作泄欲和生育的工具。
值得注意的是,随着西方文明日益暴露其弊病,愈来愈多的有识之士从女性身上发现了一种 疗救弊病的力量。对于这种力量,艺术家早有觉悟,所以歌德诗曰:"永恒之女性,领导我 们走。"与以往不同的是,现在哲学家们也纷纷觉悟了。马尔库塞指出,由于妇女和资本主 义异化劳动世界相分离,这就使得她们有可能不被行为原则弄得过于残忍,有可能更多地保 持自己的感性,也就是说,比男人更人性化。

Additionally , for same work,women receive lower payment at their job than men. Another statistic shows that women represent 50 percent of middle management and professional positions but the percentages of women at the top of organizations represent not even a third of that number which can not but arouse our thinking why do we have so few women leaderThat’s recessive gender discrimination.In the absence of gender discrimination stress patriarchal society,in order to realize their own value,women must pay double or even several times effort than men.
Finally,the ideas that son preference and discrimination against girls took strong root since ancient time,every family continues to have children until they have a boy,if they have a girl,they would like to have another child.Killed,aborted or neglected,at least 100 million girls have disappeared and the number is rising. 久闻<红与黑>的盛名,今天得以白读(借的)。原先一直因为结尾的悲剧性,而把读它的想法束之高阁,读完我却是舒了口气,
出生贫寒使他仇视富人,博学多才又叫他鄙视穷人
厌恶自己的出身,又仇恨追求的地方。可是,结局却是峰回路转,于连死了,他不是被社会抹杀的,他是被司汤达扼杀的,我认为(有脑子的人都应该有主见,对错放两旁)司汤达在最后是对让他处处碰壁的社会做了一次妥协,应该说是忏悔,而后人却一直这悲剧的结局当做对后人的警钟,对,让有雄心的穷人们放弃奋斗,放弃所谓是不择手段的奋斗,这就是全世界所有得势阶级所要看到的结果。没有人比他们更清楚------------他们自己,或者他们的祖上, 就是不择手段起家的。
比起<红与黑>,我更欣赏巴尔扎克的<高老头>和莫泊桑的<漂亮朋友>,比起红与黑里的于连,拉斯蒂惺和杜洛华,才是于连真正人生该有的结局,当然,他们不是统治阶级想要看到的社会意义上的楷模。
